Thousands Gather to Bid Farewell to Mathioya River Accident Victims

A solemn atmosphere engulfed Kiamuruga Primary School grounds as thousands gathered to pay their last respects to three victims of the tragic V.P. Shah accident in Mathioya River on 27th November 2024.
The deceased, Dennis Chomba, James Maina, and Lawrence Munene, were laid to rest in an emotional ceremony that drew a mammoth crowd, including political leaders, family, friends, and residents from the region.
Local leaders attended the event, including MCAs Hon. Fredrick Maina of Inoi Ward, Hon. David Mathenge Baragwi, Hon. Waziri Moses Migwi of Kanyekini Ward, and Hon. Eric Muchina of Kerugoya Ward.
Their presence demonstrated solidarity with the grieving families and community during this difficult time.
Former Deputy President H.E. Rigathi Gachagua addressed the mourners via phone, delivering a heartfelt message of condolence that left the crowd deeply moved.
Gachagua commended the community for their support and promised to provide political direction for the region early next year.
His words resonated with the mourners, offering a sense of hope amid their grief.
